and so begins 2007

i began the new year at church with carly and a bunch of her friends. they had a "lock-in" and had to be picked up at 12:01am. cassi jo was bound and determined to stay up so she could go with me to pick carly up. she is fascinated by "the middle of the night".

we arrived just in time to ring in the new year with a glass of grape juice. we were in our jammies and decided that might embarrass carly a tad so we went to the car while they cleaned up. i think they had a good time...carly came out smiling from ear to ear. i am sure it helped that jake was there to make her smile too. ;o)

cassidy and i were up fairly early this morning and decided to go to walmart to get our grocery shopping done. our cupboards were very bare and now they are chock full of goodies. the freezer is over flowing and fruits abound in the fruit bowl. mmmmmmm!! our healthy eating has begun. now if we can just get moving!!

right now i am paying for that late night/early rise. my eyes are very heavy and i know if i stop i will doze off. i must hold out a few more hours.

right now we are off to dazzler's house to deliver a cake. she has 4 extra children at her house and has put out a distress call for some travelling cuisine. well UJ calls me the Queen of Travelling Cuisine so this was just up my alley don't you know? Yellow butter recipe cake with chocolate icing is what UJ chose for them. it is whipped up and cooling as i type. mmmmmmchocolate!!

  1. I don't know AJ, I love me some chocolate but I like my yellow cake with grape jelly. That's the way my grandma would fix it for me!

  2. who is dazzler?

that cake is making my mouth water

  3. Happy New Year!
    I have missed you..
extra hugs from me to you!
*swipes a slice of the cake on my way out (they won't miss just one slice)*yummmmmmm

    Have a wonderful day!

  4. Happy New Year!
I am so glad to finally have internet here in our new home.....
I hope to stop by more frequently.

  5. A lock-in?! At least it wasn't one of those alllll nighters.

I'm still checking my mailbox every day for my Carly card. :]

  6. lock ins are fun! so is cake...lots and lots of cake. So how are your resolutions holding up?

  7. Cassi Jo sounds like a cool kid. I'm 26 and still fascinated by "the middle of the night"!!! lol

Queen of Travelling Cuisine huh? Feel free to rescue me anytime!! lol

  8. Yellow cake and chocolate frosting is a divine culinary combination.

My son was "locked in" all night at the church with other youths, and he returned home around 6:30 a.m. and went to bed. He did not see the light of day after that.

Fruit is really yummy, especially banana slices on bread with peanut butter. :)
